The 2016 Fantasia . . . Sponsored by Absorbine
Tickets are selling briskly for Equine Affaire’s musical celebration of the horse—the Fantasia—which will return to the coliseum of the Ohio Expo Center on April 7th to the 9th and be the perfect ending to a perfect day of learning, shopping, and absorbing all things horse-related at Equine Affaire. For nearly two decades the Fantasia has been a highlight of Equine Affaire and an event that has been both the model and trendsetter for other equestrian entertainment events around the nation.
What to expect at this Year's Fantasia . . .
The Fantasia is always a special opportunity to see some incredible horses and riders and witness some unforgettable performances. In addition to enjoying the beauty and excitement of the various performances that make up the show, we have to marvel at the range of skills that horses possess, their extraordinary trainability, and their willingness to perform and excel in so many ways. The Fantasia is much more than equestrian entertainment—it’s truly a testament to the heart and soul of the amazing animals we love.
Many of the equine performers who will be participating in this year's event will be natives of the Midwest, while others will travel to Columbus from as far away as Florida, Colorado, and Canada. The cast of equines will include breeds as diverse as Friesians, Arabians, Haflingers, Paints, Percherons, Quarter Horses, Warmbloods, and, of course, the ever-popular miniatures--all choreographed to a wide variety of musical styles.
Fantasia goers can expect to be wowed by yet another compilation of outstanding equine and equestrian talent including a freestyle reining performance by champion reiner Aaron Ralston; two all-new drill team routines by the incomparable Canadian Cowgirls; a grand prix musical freestyle dressage ride by Angela Jackson aboard her Dutch Warmblood mare; and a special jumping drill routine featuring Ohio's own Haflinger Drill Team. Sylvia Zerbini will amaze the audience with her herd of 10 stunning Arabians working simultaneously at liberty, and Lisa Dufresne will showcase her extraordinary trick training skills with her collection of "lion-hearted' miniatures. Horses in harness just may steal the show this April--with so many breeds and so many driving disciplines scheduled to perform. And those are just a few of the acts that will grace the Fantasia stage in Columbus!
