A SUCCESSFUL EQUINE AFFAIRE

The 2008 Equine Affaire in W. Springfield featured more than 60 in-depth clinics conducted by many of the nation's foremost trainers, coaches, and competitors in three separate clinic arenas. More than 65 seminars and demonstrations were also offered in the Seminar Stage and Demo Ring to cover subjects as wide-ranging as natural and alternative therapies, stable management, nutrition, and first aid techniques. Many clinicians at Equine Affaire accepted horses and riders through the Ride With The Best program.
2008 Roster of Outstanding Presenters
This thrilling competition, held on Saturday and Sunday in the Equine Network Arena located in the Coliseum, was a timed and judged pursuit through an obstacle course which was created to test each competitor's horsemanship skills. The competition was open to adult riders of all disciplines and horses of all breeds. Julie Goodnight served as the special guest commentator and Scot Hansen as the judge for this year's competition as participants competed for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes.
Equine Affaire hosted the largest trade show of any horse expo in the East! Attendees explored five buildings totaling acres of exhibit space representing a full range of horse-related products and services.
Breed Pavilion & Horse & Farm Exhibits The Breed Pavilion showcased major breeds of horses as well as several unique breeds. The Horse & Farm Exhibits area in C-Barn featured a vast number of stallions, horse breeding farms, and training facilities.
The Arabian Horse Association Youth Pavilion was a special place for horse-crazy kids of all ages. Horsepeople enjoyed the educational and horse-related exhibits, presentations by many of today's most popular educators, demonstrations by various horse breeds, a Celebrity Horse Showcase, and plenty of fun activities for kids!
Pfizer FantasiaThe Pfizer Fantasia—A Musical Celebration of the Horse—took place Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings in the Equine Network Arena located in the Coliseum. It was a truly dazzling celebration of the horse and something for the whole family to enjoy. Tickets not sold in advance were sold at the event from the Information Booth in the Better Living Center beginning at 9:00am on Thursday, November 13th. Those who watched this special event have praised this as one of the best Fantasias yet.
This year Equine Affaire awarded its Exceptional Equestrian Educator Award to Julie Goodnight in recognition of her long-standing commitment to educating horsepeople. The award was presented on Friday evening before the start of the Pfizer Fantasia evening show.

Equine Affaire is an American Riding Instructors Association (ARIA) test center. Testing was held on Saturday, November 15, 2008, at the Eastern States Exposition. The World Championship Blacksmiths Regional Competition IV was again held in conjunction with Equine Affaire. A judge's clinic took place on Thursday, Forging go-rounds were featured on Thursday and Friday, and Live Shoeing go-rounds were held on Saturday. Many took advantage of this chance to be amazed by the craftsmanship and speed of these top blacksmiths.
