Equine Affaire's Fantasia: Great Horses, Great Music, and So Much More!
Equine Affaire’s legendary musical celebration of the horse—the Fantasia—will provide the perfect ending to a busy day of learning, shopping, and reveling in all things horse-related at Equine Affaire. As the entertainment “cornerstone” of Equine Affaire’s remarkable program of activities for horse lovers of all ages, the Fantasia is always an uplifting and special reminder of why we are intrigued by horses. Where else can you feel the power of huge draft horse rigs thundering through the arena, be amazed by the precision riding of a first-class equestrian drill team, be inspired by the precise movements of a grand prix dressage horse and rider, be enthralled by the stunning beauty of Friesians and engaging spirit of Icelandics, and witness the incredible intelligence of highly-trained trick horses in just one night?
The Fantasia will take place at 8:00pm on Thursday through Saturday, November 7-9 in the coliseum at the Eastern States Exposition in W. Springfield, MA. Tickets are already on sale for this hugely popular event, so it’s time to plan ahead to gather with friends and family members to take in an evening of incredible entertainment and special performances by exceptional horses and riders from all corners of the country.
What to Expect: Put a lot of great horses, great riders, great music, and an energized audience of diehard horse lovers in one coliseum and—voila!—you have all the ingredients for the Fantasia. The 2013 Fantasia will feature a blend of comedy, drama, fast-paced action, remarkable horsemanship, and amazing horses. Jeff Wilson will open the show riding his Morgan horse, Delview Catskill Valiant, in a special tribute that is sure to move all who attend. Clay Maier will travel from Lexington, KY, to present a beautiful pas de deux in addition to an impressive tandem driving routine with his sensational Friesians. Two-time AQHA freestyle reining champion, Kelly Sapp, will dazzle the audience with his reining finesse, and USDF gold medalist, Liz Austin, will showcase the talent of her reknowned Dutch Warmblood stallion, Olivier, through a memorable grand prix dressage ride. Oher performers slated to participate include the award-winning Canadian Cowgirls drill team, the Vermont-based Silver Maple Icelandics, and the incomparable equestrian performer Guy McLean and his equine companions. The Fantasia production team has several special acts in development for this year’s show and several special performers that they hope to keep a secret pre-event because the element of surprise is part of what makes the Fantasia so much fun. Let’s just say that that there will be a mix of high jumping, docking, Roman riding, and the antics of at least one remarkably smart horse that will make us all laugh when he outwits his famous trainer. It’s going to be a great night with a lot of variety and a show that horse lovers won’t want to miss.
