Equine Affaire Will Bring All Things Horse-related to Columbus in April COLUMBUS, OH, April 12–15, 2007 – Equine Affaire, the premiere horse exposition in North America, returns this April to the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus with a powerhouse line-up of clinicians and presentations. The event will offer extraordinary opportunities for horse enthusiasts with four full days of clinics, demonstrations, and seminars and no repetition in the schedule. Additional learning opportunities will be available in the Breed and Youth Pavilions and the event’s extensive Horse and Farm exhibits. In addition to taking advantage of the incomparable educational opportunities afforded by Equine Affaire, attendees will have the chance to browse the largest horse-related trade show in the nation. Prior to the inception of Equine Affaire in 1994 the kind of access afforded by the event to industry leaders and the event’s extensive educational and shopping opportunities were simply unavailable to equine enthusiasts. The outstanding trainers, coaches, and competitors who will be conducting clinics in the Equine.com arena, the Rod’s Covered Paddock, the Voinovich Arena, and Cooper Arena at this year’s event will include: Monty Roberts (Join Up®), Craig Cameron (general training & horsemanship), Leslie Desmond (True Horsemanship through Feel), Cindy Sydnor (dressage), Sheri Siñor Estrada (barrel racing), Nona Garson (hunters & jumpers), Punk Carter (cutting), Darren Chiacchia (eventing), Cleve Wells (western pleasure), Catherine Haddad (dressage), Charles Wilhelm (general training & horsemanship), Terry Myers (trail & showmanship), Lynn Palm (hunter under saddle & western horsemanship), Brenda Imus (easy gaited horses), Muffy Seaton (driving), Patrick Hooks (ranch horse versatility), Bob Jeffreys & Suzanne Sheppard (trail riding), Duane Esser (English pleasure), Steve Edwards (mules), Mollie Krumlaw-Smith (distance competition), and Erik Martonovich and Alethea Shelton (vaulting). In addition to more than 80 clinics offered at the 2007 Equine Affaire, there will be 125 seminars and demonstrations by leading industry professionals on topics covering everything from horse management, health, and training, to biomechanics of movement, stem cell research, and alternative therapies. In addition to auditing clinics conducted by top trainers, coaches and competitors, attendees will have the opportunity to attend non-stop seminars and demos at the Wahl Clipper Seminar Stage, the Exiss demo ring, and the Arabian Horse Association demo ring presented by prominent equine specialists from all facets of the horse industry. They may browse a trade show covering hundreds of thousands of square feet and talk with horse farm and stallion owners from around the region – all in one day, all in one place, all for the price of a single ticket. “I love Equine Affaire,” commented long-time attendee Heidi Nottelman. “I have gone all four days for the last three years; my vacation is scheduled for it! It’s a wonderful learning opportunity at a reasonable price.” There really will be something for every horse enthusiast at Equine Affaire, from young and novice riders to seasoned professionals. Attendees are encouraged to explore every area of the event, including the Young Rider Youth Pavilion that has been designed for both the young and the young-at-heart. The Pavilion will feature the Breyer Celebrity Horse Showcase, stick horse making complete with a Stick Horse Rodeo, fun demonstrations and informative clinics, as well as information about equine clubs and associations. The award-winning jockey/inventor, Frankie Lovato, Jr., will be giving demonstration rides on Equicizers, mechanical horses that are used for rider workouts, therapy, and general conditioning. Bonnie Bryant will also be at the show on Thursday autographing copies of “Horse Crazy,” the first book in her internationally best-selling series The Saddle Club. The Cashman Breed Pavilion in the Voinovich Center and the Horse and Farm exhibits in the Gilligan Complex will showcase large and small horse breeds from around the world. Horse breeds and registries will be represented by a rotating cast of stallions, mares, and geldings, and breed representatives, associations, farms, and training facilities will be on hand to answer questions. Throughout the event attendees will also be able to attend numerous breed spotlights and segments which have been designed to showcase the breeds and promote their individual qualities and abilities. “Both the Breed Pavilion and the Horse & Farm Exhibits are essential to Equine Affaire as they offer attendees an opportunity to become familiar with breeds of horses that they may never have seen before,” explained Eugenia Snyder, President of Equine Affaire. “It is also a wonderful chance to find out about stallions, farms, boarding stables, training, and breeding services in the region.” Along with its unparalleled educational opportunities, Equine Affaire will offer phenomenal shopping at the largest equine-related trade show in North America. With 450 vendors filling four huge trade show buildings as well as outdoor exhibit spaces, attendees will have ample opportunities to purchase everything they need for their horses and barns as well as the chance to pick up truly unique gifts. The on-demand radio program, Speaking of Horses, hosted by Wayne Williams, will be broadcasting live from the trade show. A new and entertaining element will be added to Equine Affaire on Saturday and Sunday—COMPETITION! Equine Affaire has teamed up with Craig Cameron to bring his nationally-recognized Extreme Cowboy Race™ to the event. As seen on RFD-TV, the Extreme Cowboy Race is a timed and judged race through an obstacle course that is designed not only to push horse and rider teams out of their traditional “comfort zones,” but also to test communication between horse and rider and the horsemanship skills and athletic abilities of each competitor. Up to 35 horse/rider teams will be accepted to compete through the course in the Preifert Arena in the Congress Pavilion at Equine Affaire for $4250 in cash prizes and the title of Extreme Cowboy Race Champion. The Extreme Cowboy Race? promises to be an exciting event both for those contestants who are bold enough to accept the challenge and those attendees who will have the opportunity to watch contestants racing through the obstacle course. For detailed information on the Extreme Cowboy Race? and how to apply consult www.equineaffaire.com or call Coagi Long at 740-845-0085 ext. 114. Contestants will be selected by Mr. Cameron on a first come, first served basis. Equine Affaire will again produce its signature evening show, the Pfizer Fantasia, on Thursday through Saturday nights at the event. This musical celebration of the horse sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health will feature a variety of special equestrian acts choreographed to a wide range of musical styles. Professional performers will dazzle the crowd with acrobatic artistry, and precision drill teams will impress their fellow horsemen with intricate pattern work. Lynn Palm will share a moving freestyle that will combine elements of dressage and jumping, Allen Pogue will delight the audience with his pair of performing trick horses, and Erik Martonovich will amaze the crowd with a high-energy Roman ride. Spectators will also enjoy grand prix freestyle dressage and award-winning reining performances, trick riding, and liberty acts, and a taste of the Wild West with a performance by the Kiesner Family. The evening will highlight the brilliance, grace and athleticism of all equines–from smaller horse breeds through draft breeds–and the special connections they share with their human handlers. A separate ticket is required for the Pfizer Fantasia, and tickets range in price from $12 to $24 plus shipping and handling.
